Christmas Blowg
While going home to see family over Christmas break can be amazing, it can also be challenging to explain to others what you are learning or how you are growing. Reflect on this past Christmas, and specifically discuss some challenges you faced going home after being in the "Kaléo bubble" for the past 4 months.
Well folks. Just finished my BLST109K final exam. Started at 2PM and ended at 5M. Since coming back to Kaleo, it has been very busy. I have thoroughly enjoyed the class, but it has been a lot to handle.
Going home for Christmas was a very good time I would say! I left at 4AM with minimal sleep and caught the 6:45AM ferry. The drive out carried clear roads, but just a little bit of fog. There were only a few times where I felt a little bit nervous or anxious. Before I arrived home, I stopped at my friends house to chat with him (from my vehicle) because he had just finished his final examinations as well. That was around 1:30AM and then I headed home (20mins) to find a sleeping family.
Being home was really fun. I was overall surprised at the knowledge and thoughtfulness my family had when it came to the big theology questions. My sister, being 16 years of age, is very disciplined and has a healthy reputation when it comes to reading her Bible. I was almost disappointed when I took the main points I had learned from Kaleo and shared them with her because it was like she already had contemplated them.
Being apart from grandpa and grandma was hard. I really appreciated the time over zoom that I was able to have with extended family, but I did miss the physical gathering side of things.
Another fun thing that occurred was snow. Although it only snowed three or four times while I was at home, we made the most of it by going drifting with the guys (different vehicles) and getting pulled behind a truck on GT snow racers (sleds). We also went skiing/snowboarding for a day and I had a blast. Overall the break was really refreshing and I am thankful for the relationship I am able to have with my parents and with my siblings.
I was super stoked to escape masks for a entire two weeks! Although I enjoyed being home for Christmas, I did miss everyone from this program. I appreciate the vulnerability and openness throughout the group. I am thankful for such a community to be able to grow and learn in the name of Jesus.
