End of the Year Blog :(
During your time in the Kaléo program you have been growing in your understanding & practice of what it means to “be the Church”. In light of all the unexpected changes that have taken place over the course of this year, what does it look like for YOU to “be the church” right now in the middle of COVID-19? How has this year prepared you for “being the church” after leaving Kaléo in general?
During my experience of Kaleo, my view of the church has shifted from a group of people who share a common goal, to a family where nothing is more important than unity. As the body of Christ, we do share a common goal, but I believe there is so much more to it than that. The church has an obligation to serve one another and share with one another of struggles and hardships. It is a transparent community where no judgement occurs and love trumps all. But most importantly, the church is built on prayer. Prayer is the single most important foundation.
Throughout COVID, the church has been challenged to find new ways of ministry by means of online evangelism. The unknown is stressful and often has unsure outcomes. This process has had its ups and downs, but through it all, God has been constant. Out of this, I have been challenged to pray more.
Going forward, in order to pursue what it looks like to be the church, I will be intentional with my prayers and pursue a reality that is rooted in prayer. This does not mean that I will pray before every meal and that's it, rather, it means I will strive to be in continuous conversation with God despite my hardships or my joys. I will pray for friends, that God would soften there hearts and that they would come to know him. I will pray through temptation, that God would help me escape and give me a way out. I will pray for wisdom and discernment, that I would pursue what is right in the eyes of God in every situation. These are just a few examples, but the theme is clear--prayer is being the church.
PS (this has nothing to do with the question, but it is epic) - we successfully accomplished one of the coolest pranks ever. We put a car inside of PWL. Here are some epic photos.
